7 Innovation Secrets of Steve Jobs

Reviewed by: Muchlisah Md Yusoff

Seven Jobs's principles in the process of achieving success:

  1. Do what you love. Its all about passion. One must identify their own passion. As for Jobs, besides computers; he was passionate about tools building that can help people know their potential.
  2. Put a dent in the universe. Passion works similar as a rocket that is filled with fuel. while visions will direct the rocket to its destination. A leader will hire best people, while ensuring that they work towards the vision. The team must be focused.
  3. Creativity is connecting things. Steve Jobs believed that varieties of experiences will differentiate a person from others. Jobs himself, used his own experienced to get inspired.
  4. Say no to 1,000 things. "Innovation comes from saying no to 1,000 things". When iPhone was introduced in 2007, Jobs make the iPhone simpler, cleaner and user-friendly, compared to other smarphone makers that are too busy adding features and buttons. It focusing on the product that needs to be highlighted.
  5. Create "insanely great" experiences. Jobs innovated from customer experience by putting a benchmark on the best models in customer service.
  6. Master the message. Steve Jobs not only a master storryteller, but he was able to convinced people about his product. After practising for many years, he managed to refined his presentation skills.
  7. Sell dreams, not products. Great thing about Steve Jobs, he was successful not because of products, but because he sold dreams. When he opened the first Apple Store in 2001, instead of saying that the store was to 'sell computers', he said that the store would 'enrich lives' as people care about themselves, not about the product. To win over people, the product must be able to help them achieving their dreams. One must stop from selling products, but start enriching lives.

There are few people that have the courage to dream big. Steve Jobs always followed his heart. He have the thoughts that, "one must follow their heart and intuition since their heart and intuition already know what they want to become".
